Leighton Offshore has been awarded a US$66m contract by the Tanzania Ports Authority

Leighton Offshore has been awarded a US$66m contract by the Tanzania Ports Authority to install a single point mooring (SPM) and pipelines in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania.

Leighton Offshore’s scope of work includes engineering and procurement, project management, pre & post installation surveys, supply and installation of the SPM system, as well as testing and commissioning.

Leighton will also install a 28” pipeline (3.6 kilometres offshore and 4.3 kilometres onshore) and a 24” pipeline (3.6 kilometres offshore and 4.3 kilometres onshore).

Leighton’s own recently upgraded barge, Leighton Mynx, will be used to install the SPM and pipeline.

Leighton Holdings Chief Operating Officer David Savage said the award of the project built on Leighton Offshore’s strong track record in the installation of SPM’s and confirmed their position as the leading company in the region in SPM work

“We are very pleased to be awarded this project in Africa, which is an exciting market for Leighton International and where we are exploring a range of opportunities onshore and offshore” he said.

Work will commence next month and is scheduled to be completed in 18 months.
